Welcome to Red Rock Savannahs
My name is Connie Land. I am the owner and breeder at Red Rock Savannahs. We are conveniently located in Las Vegas, Nevada. My Savannah cat journey began over 13years ago. I learned about the Savannah breed about 9 months prior to actually getting my first savannah. I did a lot of research, and educated myself about the breed, as well as the responsibilities that came with owning a savannah. I met an incredible Savannah breeder; Jan Rockwell, owner Snow Canyon Savannahs. Shortly after meeting Jan, I opened my savannah cattery, originally named Exotic Savannahs. One of the many great blessings that have come from owning and breeding Savannahs are the lifelong friendships I have made along the way.
“I quickly learned Savannahs are unlike any other breed.”
The uniqueness and exotic qualities of the breed was very exciting to me, but I wanted to be sure a savannah cat would be a nice fit for our family and our lifestyle. Savannahs are amazing cats, but they are not for everyone. Owning a Savannahs comes with both a responsibility and a liability. Great thought, education, and preparation should be taken when welcoming a new Savannah into your home. I am grateful I did all of the above.
I decided a lower generation would be the best introduction to the breed. I found my first Savannah Nala, an F6sbt female. This was over 13 years ago, and have never looked back! I immediately fell in love with the breed. Since then, we have grown our family of Savannah cats to include both males and females, ranging from high % F1A-F6SBT generations.
I began my breeding career as a TICA registered cattery known as Exotic Savannahs. For the next eight years, we grew our business and our impeccable reputation within the savannah community and with our pet owners. Over time, I began to see an influx of savannah breeders, many of them not operating by the same standards and code of ethics as some of us longstanding breeders. Variations of the word “exotic” began popping up in names some of these catteries. I did not want to be confused, nor tied to any of these less than repeatable new breeders and catteries.
I made the decision to change my name to Red Rock Savannahs back in 2016. We are TICA registered and own both names, previously known as Exotic Savannahs and currently Red Rock Savannahs. Now after over 13 years of owning and breeding Savannahs, I am still learning and growing as we learn more about the Savannah cat and all of the advancements of the savannah cat breed.
I love their independence, intelligence, and regal demeanor. I enjoy their playful attitudes, curious personalities, and mischevious ways. I very quickly learned that I needed to be smarter than my Savannah. I also learned that “Savannah Proofing” my home was really something I needed to do.
Savannahs love to climb, jump, play, explore and interact with their families. They love to be involved in everything we do, and always let you know they are around. They are very talkative and can be very animated kittens and cats. They are a commitment and a responsibility. I feel lucky and grateful to be a part of this incredible breed.
My goal is to share my love of the Savannah breed through my cats and kittens, and educate people about this remarkable breed. As a long time breeder of Red Rock Savannahs and pet owner, I am passionate about the breed. I want to preserve the integrity and unique qualities of the Savannah cat. It is very clear to me why this is the most highly sought after breed of cats and most expensive in the world.
